Something to Think About

"A controlled trial at Georgetown University put one group of Type II diabetics on the ADA recommended diet and another group on a vegan diet. After three months, the subjects on the vegan diet had a 59% greater decrease in fasting blood sugar levels than those on the ADA diet and needed less medication. The vegans also lost twice as much weight, a greater decline in cholesterol levels and had fewer protein losses."
"Some people scoff at vegetarians, but they have a fraction of our heart attack rate and they have only 40% of our cancer rate. On the average, they outlive other men by about six years."
-William Castelli, MD-Director of the Framingham Study
